Oslo, July 02: Norway on Thursday ordered its embassy in
Islamabad to close for at least two days for security reasons,
a foreign ministry spokeswoman said.
"Based on the developments in the general security
situation, Norway has decided to close its embassy in
Islamabad on Thursday 2 July and Friday 3 July," Ragnhild
Imerslund said.
Imerslund declined to specify the developments and say
whether the Norwegian embassy had received specific threats.
The decision was taken yesterday night.
She did not say whether the embassy would reopen next
week. "We are constantly reviewing the situation," she said.
The Pakistani capital has seen several attacks in recent
months, as government forces battle an Islamist insurgency.
Last week Pakistani police announced the arrest of 25
alleged militants whom it claims were planning attacks in
large cities, including on foreign targets.
