Washington: US President Barack Obama will meet his top national security advisors to discuss the current situation in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

After the announcement of the new Afghanistan policy in December last year, Obama has been meeting with his security advisors once a month.

Today's discussion comes after Obama's meeting with Pakistani Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani here on the sidelines of the Nuclear Security Summit. Obama had also met Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and a host of other leaders who attended the summit.

In almost all the meetings with the world leaders, Afghanistan remained an important issue of discussion for Obama.

Vice President Joe Biden, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and National Security Advisor General (rtd) James Jones are expected to attend the meeting. The meeting is scheduled to last for over an hour.
