Over 150 people airlifted to safety by military planes in Pak

More than 150 people, including foreigners and tourists, stranded in remote-flood- hit areas of Gilgit-Baltistan in northern Pakistan were on Wednesday airlifted to safety by military aircraft.

The Pakistan Air Force today resumed rescue
operations that were held up for six days due to bad weather.
Over 150 people were evacuated from Skardu and Gilgit by a
C-130 transport aircraft.

The military also ferried nearly 460,000 pounds of
relief supplies, including dry rations, tents, medicines and
blankets, to flood-affected areas of Punjab, Sindh and
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa provinces.
Military aircraft also carried 44 boats to Sialkot and
Sukkur while a 19-member medical team was transported by a
C-130 aircraft to Sukkur in Sindh, officials said.
