Peshawar: Over 20 people were killed and several houses were destroyed during heavy rains and flooding in Pakistan’s Kohistan region.
District Police Officer (DPO) Kohistan Mohammad Ilyas told a newspaper Dawn that 16 bodies have been recovered so far.
However, the death toll is expected to rise.
DPO Ilyas also said that rescue operations were difficult to manage due to the remoteness of the affected areas.
Helicopters have been requisitioned from the provincial authorities, he added.
