Pak-Afghan Transit Trade talks postponed Islamabad: The Pak-Afghan Transit Trade talks scheduled for Friday have been postponed.

According to the programme, details with regard to the implementation of the Pak-Afghan trade were to be settled during the talks.

The Afghan government conveyed the decision of the postponement of its delegation’s visit to Pakistan on Thursday evening, The News reports.

Mumtaz Haider Rizvi, Member Customs, Federal Board of Revenue, who was to represent Pakistan at the talks, said that the new Pak-Afghan Transit Trade Agreement would be implemented from next month.

He said that nobody would be allowed to collect the goods imported under the agreement without bank guarantees from the ports of Karachi, Bin Qasim or Gwadar.

Moreover, only Customs-bonded careers would be allowed to lift the goods, Rizvi added.

The postponement of Pak-Afghan talks is being observed as a result of efforts of smuggling mafia, which does not want to see the agreement implemented.
