Pak captures 4 militants; 12 surrender in Swat

Pak security forces have captured 4 militants while another 12 rebels surrendered to authorities during search and clearance operations in Swat.

Islamabad: Pakistani security forces have
captured four militants while another 12 rebels surrendered to
authorities during search and clearance operations in the Swat
valley and other parts of Malakand division, the military said
today.

Troops apprehended three militants at Fatehpur, Madyan
and Gulibagh while another militant was captured in Mingora,
the main city in Swat.

A total of 12 militants surrendered to security forces at
Bar Shaur, Runial Chuprial and Mingora, the military said in a
statement.

Meanwhile, authorities in the semi-autonomous Bajaur
tribal region today gave militants six days to surrender and
lay down their weapons.

Afghan refugees living in Mamoond sub-division of Bajaur
Agency were also asked to leave the area by authorities, TV
news channels reported.

The political administration of Bajaur Agency served a
written notice to elders of the Mamoond tribe today, asking
them to tell all militants hiding in their area to surrender
within six days.

In a separate development, gunship helicopters attacked
and destroyed three militant hideouts in Massozai area of
Kurram Agency.
