Pak confers top military honour on Saudi Prince

President Zardari conferred the Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military) on the Saudi prince during a special investiture ceremony.

Islamabad: Pakistan on Thursday conferred one of
its highest military honours on Prince Khalid Bin Bandar Bin
Abdulaziz Al-Saud, the commander of the Saudi Land Forces, in
recognition of his services in promoting bilateral relations.

President Asif Ali Zardari conferred the Hilal-i-Imtiaz
(Military) on the Saudi prince during a special investiture
ceremony held at the presidency.

The citation for the award said it had been given to
Prince Khalid for "his consistent and valuable contributions
in promoting relations and understanding between the two
countries and armies".

Later, Prince Khalid called on Zardari along with a
delegation.

Pakistan`s Defence Minister Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar, army
chief Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, Foreign Secretary Salman
Bashir participated in the meeting.

Matters related to bilateral relations and mutual
cooperation were discussed, the presidential spokesman said.

Zardari said Pakistan was keen to enhance cooperation
with Saudi Arabia in all areas for the mutual benefit of the
two countries.

The current bilateral trade volume is yet to fully
reflect the depth and strength of the existing relationship,
he said.

The President highlighted the role of nearly 1.5 million
Pakistani nationals in the Saudi Arabian economy and said
Pakistan is keen to extend cooperation in human resources by
offering skilled, semi-skilled and other work force.
