Lahore: A Pakistani court has dismissed a
petition asking it to direct authorities not to allow the
"possible" shifting of CIA contractor Raymond Davis from Kot
Lakhpat Jail to Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi.
Lawyer Ilamuddin Ghazi filed the petition in which he
expressed the apprehension that Davis, arrested in Lahore on
January 27 after he shot and killed two men, would be shifted
from the prison in Lahore to Adiala Jail in a bid to dilute
the gravity of the double murder case against him.
Lahore High Court Chief Justice Ijaz Chaudhry, who
heard the petition yesterday, asked Ghazi how he came to the
conclusion that Davis would be shifted to the jail in
Rawalpindi.
"Have you dreamt about his shifting?" the judge
angrily asked Ghazi before dismissing the petition.
Davis is currently being held in Kot Lakhpat Jail.
Police have rejected his claim of acting in
self-defence and booked him for murder.
