Peshawar: Pakistani security forces on Saturday
foiled a potential terror attack by seizing a explosives-laden
vehicle and capturing three suspected militants after a
shootout in the country`s restive northwest, officials said.
The seizure was made by police during a search
operation in the restive Doaba area of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa
province this morning.
Acting on a tip-off, police signalled a vehicle to
stop for a search. The men in the vehicle opened fire at the
police party team. The policemen returned fire, injuring three
suspected militants who were arrested.
Police cordoned off the area and a bomb disposal squad
defused the explosives.
Doaba area is part of Hangu district, which has
witnessed several major terrorist attacks.
