‘Pak foreign policy under US’ influence’

Leader of Opposition in the Pakistan National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has said that the country’s foreign policy is under the Obama administration’s influence.

Rawalpindi: Leader of Opposition in the Pakistan National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has said that the country’s foreign policy is under the Obama administration’s influence.
Nisar said that the USA is using Pakistan as a pawn in the fight against militancy and alleged that the Asif Ali Zardari-led Government’s policies are dictatorial.

“The government has failed to provide relief to the poverty stricken people,” The Daily Times quoted Nisar, as saying.

“The only panacea is to act according to the aspirations of 170 million Pakistanis,” he added.

He further said that Zardari was not man of honour, and reiterated that his party would bring a silent revolution in the country.

Earlier, Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi had said that the country is pursuing a pro-Pakistan foreign policy.

“Our policy is pro-Pakistan. It is neither pro-American nor anti-American. Every country has its own interests to safeguard. Pakistan will protect its own interests, which we are doing,” Qureshi had said.

Qureshi said that the democratically-elected government has been able to project Pakistan’s point of view in a more convincing manner.

The minister also said that the successful strategy adopted by the country was being recognised, and if there is a success story in counter-terrorism, Pakistan was a role model.
