Peshawar: A petition was on Friday filed in
a Pakistani court challenging the educational qualification of
a minority lawmaker in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa assembly.

The petition was filed in the Peshawar High Court by a
man named Rajindar Kumar to challenge lawmaker Kishore Kumar`s
educational qualification.

Rajindar Kumar alleged that the bachelor`s degree of
the legislator is fake and asked the court to annul his
election and announce fresh polls to his constituency.

During a preliminary hearing, a bench comprising
Justices Syed Sajjad Hussain Shah and Yahya Afridi directed
Kishore Kumar`s counsel Habib Qureshi to provide complete
details of the lawmaker`s degree.

The bench subsequently adjourned the matter.
Kishore Kumar had attached a degree of Gomal
University in Dera Ismail Khan when he contested the 2008
elections in a constituency reserved for minorities.

Several members of the provincial and national
assemblies have had to resign in recent weeks after it was
established that they had fake degrees.
