Pak legislator arrested over murder case

A Pakistani legislator was today arrested from a court premises in connection with a murder case in the northwestern Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.

Peshawar: A Pakistani legislator was today
arrested from a court premises in connection with a murder case in the northwestern Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.

District and Sessions Judge Sardar Muhammad Irshad of
Charsadda district ordered the arrest of Shakeel Bashir
Umerzai from the court premises when he appeared for a hearing
of the murder case.

Umerzai is a member of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa assembly
and belongs to the ruling Awami National Party.

He was charged in the FIR lodged in connection with the
murder of former legislator and PPP-Sherpao leader Alamzeb
Umerzai.

Alamzeb Umerzai and two of his guards were killed in
Charsadda district in April.
