Islamabad: Pakistan today summoned India's Deputy High Commissioner here and lodged a protest over the killing of a woman in alleged firing by Indian troops across the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir.

Foreign Office (FO) spokesman Qazi Khalilullah said in statement that a 28-year old woman was killed in the firing.

Deputy High Commissioner of India J P Singh was summoned to the Foreign Office today and a protest was lodged over the killing of the woman.

"(She) was shot in her belly by Indian troops at LoC in Jandrot Sector on 8 August...She succumbed to her injuries today," the Pakistan Foreign Office alleged.

The Foreign Office alleged that Indian security forces had committed 37 and 24 "ceasefire violations" on the LoC and the Working Boundary in July and August respectively.

"Pakistan expressed its deep concern at the continuous unprovoked ceasefire violations by the Indian side at the LoC and the Working Boundary," it said.
