Islamabad: An unemployed father of two set
himself afire on Monday outside a residential complex for
parliamentarians here in the Pakistani capital and was rushed
to hospital with serious injuries, police said.
Raja Khan, a 35-year-old resident of Nowshero Feroz in
Sindh province, poured an inflammable liquid on himself and
set himself alight, witnesses said.
Policemen on duty in the area put out the flames and took
him to hospital.
Before attempting immolation, Khan said he was fed up
with poverty and wanted to commit suicide as he had no job.
Police officials said he sustained "severe burn injuries".
Footage on television showed Khan being carried to a
vehicle by several policemen.
