Pak national arrested in Nepal for smuggling rare birds

Kathmandu: A Pakistani national was today
arrested at the Tribhuvan International Airport here for
smuggling 10 falcons to Doha, police said.

with the rare birds this afternoon, according to Kathmandu
Metropolitan Police Circle.

Falcon is considered an endangered bird and its trading
is prohibited under national and international law.

Meanwhile, police have arrested seven students of the
Pashupati Multiple College in Kathmandu for setting ablaze a
government vehicle during a protest against the hike in price
of petroleum products and cooking gas.

The Nepalese government yesterday hiked the price of
cooking gas by Rs 75 per cylinder and petrol and kerosene by
Rs 4 per litre to cover heavy losses incurred by the Nepal Oil
Corporation.
