Pak troops kill 20 Taliban fighters

Pakistan security forces killed 20 Taliban fighters while repulsing an attack by militants on a security check post in the restive South Waziristan tribal region, military sources said on Saturday.

The militants attacked a security check post late last
night, the sources said.

Troops "effectively repulsed" the assault and
inflicted "heavy casualties" on the militants, they said.
Besides the 20 militants who were killed, six soldiers
were injured in the attack.

The fleeing militants left behind the bodies of 12 of
their accomplices, the sources said.
