`Pakistan and US are friends`

An American official said the Pakistan-US friendship was based on people-to-people relationship.

Islamabad: Pakistan and the US have a friendly relationship, but friends often disagree with one another, an American official has said.

Mitchell Moss, counsellor for public affairs at the US embassy here, said on Saturday that the Pakistan-US friendship was based on "people-to-people relationship", the Daily Times reported on Sunday.

"Sometimes friends agree, sometimes they don`t, but fundamentally they like each other," Moss said at a media workshop.
The comments came hours before a NATO strike on Pakistani border posts Saturday left two dozen Pakistani soldiers dead, plunging Islamabad`s ties with Washington to a new low.
