Peshawar: Pakistani security forces arrested a dozen suspected Taliban militants and destroyed several terrorist hideouts and compounds during search and
clearance operations in the country?s northwest and the tribal belt bordering Afghanistan.
Troops apprehended six suspects and destroyed 20 militant hideouts while conducting operations in Damadola and Baida areas of Bajaur Agency, a stronghold of the Taliban.
The security forces also recovered a cache of arms,
ammunition and equipment from the hideouts, a Frontier Corps
spokesman said on Tuesday.
The troops apprehended four suspected militants
during a search in Shin Darang area of Bara sub-division of
Khyber Agency.
In the northwestern Dir district, two suspected
militants were apprehended at Lal Qilla with the help of local
residents, the spokesman said.
Security forces also destroyed two militant compounds
during search operations at Bian Khel and Qayumabad areas of
the Mohmand tribal region, he said.
