Pakistan heatwave death toll passes 1,000: Officials

The death toll from Pakistan`s killer heatwave rose to 800 on Thursday, as cloud cover and lower temperatures brought some relief to the worst-hit city Karachi.

Karachi: The death toll from a major heatwave in Pakistan passed 1,000 on Thursday, medics and welfare workers told AFP, with further fatalities expected.

Days of unusually hot weather in Karachi, the country`s biggest city, have seen tens of thousands of people struck down with heatstroke and dehydration.
