Islamabad: Two days after five Indian soldiers were killed along the Line of Control and the incident led to a political storm in India, Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday summoned his country`s Army officials to discuss the situation at LoC.

Fresh from a private visit to Saudi Arabia on Thursday, Sharif called the meeting to discuss "the situation arising out of recent tension at the LoC". The meeting will also discuss foreign policy and external challenges faced by the country, reported Xinhua.

Top military commanders of Pakistan and India spoke on hotline to reduce tensions on Wednesday.

The report came after Defence Minister AK Antony issued a fresh statement in Parliament, stating specialist troops of the Pakistan Army were involved in the attack and killing of five Indian soldiers in Jammu and Kashmir.
Antony said that based on an on-the-spot assessment by Army Chief General Bikram Singh, it is now clear that the attack was carried out by Pakistani Army regulars.

The incident has renewed tensions between India and Pakistan, and jeopardised the likeliness of the meeting between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his Pakistani counterpart Sharif in September on the sidelines of UN General Assembly in New York.

The Bharatiya Janata Party has cautioned Dr Singh that the atmosphere was not conducive for talks with Pakistan.
