Islamabad: Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and US Ambassador Richard Olson Monday discussed the upcoming visit of US Secretary of State John Kerry.
According to the foreign ministry, Kerry will lead the US delegation to the ministerial-level strategic dialogue with Pakistan scheduled to take place here Jan 14, Dawn online reported.
The strategic dialogue would be the second ministerial-level meeting since the dialogue resumed in 2013.
Three editions were held in quick succession in 2010 before the dialogue was suspended in 2011. The discussions would focus on how to advance their bilateral engagement.
The Pakistan-US strategic dialogue currently covers five areas of bilateral cooperation which are discussed through working groups.
The areas are: Energy, defence consultative group, law enforcement and counter-terrorism, and economy and finance.
Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi were also present at the meeting.
Both sides also finalised policy points to be discussed with Kerry.
