Islamabad: Pakistan on Thursday recognised the new government of Libya and hoped that its ties would continue to be strong.
Foreign Office chairperson Tehmina Janjua said, "We recognise state and government of Libya."
She said Pakistan and Libya had maintained longstanding ties, which would be further promoted in future, reported Associated Press of Pakistan.
Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi was ousted and killed on October 20 following an uprising that was inspired by the unrest in Tunisia and Egypt. The National Transitional Council has taken over the reins of power.
