Foreign Ministry is in close contact with Navy and Air Force for evacuation.

Islamabad: Pakistan has announced it will evacuate its citizens from violence-hit Libya where a mass protest is raging to end the authoritarian rule of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.

The Foreign Ministry is in close contact with the Pakistan Navy and the Air Force for the evacuation, the IRNA news agency Monday quoted Tehmina Janjua, spokesperson for the ministry, as saying.

There are thousands of Pakistani expatriates in Libya. A group of Pakistanis from Libya has already reached Tunisia, from where they would be brought to Pakistan, the spokesperson said.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani have directed the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar and Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir to ensure the safety of Pakistani nationals in Libya.
