Pakistani-American woman kills her autistic kids

Saiqa Akhter has admitted to strangling her son Zain, 5, and daughter Faraal.

Washington: A Pakistani-American woman, Saiqa Akhter, living in Texas, has killed her two kids because they were autistic.

According to Fox News, police said 30-year-old Akhter admitted to strangling her five-year-old son Zain and two-year-old daughter Faraal as they were both autistic, and she wanted normal children.

Police informed that after committing the crime, she called 911 saying she had ‘killed both of her kids’.

She was heard in an audio recording of that call repeating, “I kill my both kids. They are dead.”

Earlier, she tried to make the children drink bathroom cleaner, but when they would not swallow, she wrapped wire around their necks and strangled them.

“Both are autistic. I don’t want my kids to be like that. I want normal kids; I don’t want my kids to be autistic. I killed both of them,” Fox News quoted her, as saying.

Akhter now faces capital murder charges.

An Irving jail official said she has requested for a court-appointed attorney but so far, no one has been assigned to her case.

If convicted of capital murder, Akhter could face the death penalty. Prosecutors have not said if they will seek that punishment. Otherwise, she could face life in prison without parole.
