A Pakistani Army officer was killed when he stepped on an explosive device during a search operation in the country`s Tirah valley in the Khyber Agency.

Islamabad: A Pakistani Army officer was killed when he stepped on an explosive device during a search operation in the country`s Tirah valley in the Khyber Agency.

Lt. Col. Sajid Mushtaq was leading an operation to clear the Gulbai area of Maidan when an improvised explosive device exploded in a house, killing him on the spot, Dawn News reported, citing the Army`s media wing.
The operation was launched after government forces had pushed militants out of the area, it added.
