Karachi: Pakistani Police uncovered a plan for terrorist activities in the city on Wednesday and seized a huge cache of hand grenades.
Police said that the bomb disposal squad diffused up to 100 grenades at the site where the explosive materials were found buried in a drum.
"Police on a tip off recovered the drum of live hand grenades from a deserted location near Gulshan-e-Maymar area of Karachi," said a senior police officer.
A local NGO representative present at the spot claimed that a child tried to sell him a hand grenade for Rs 5, at which stage he reported the incident to the police, leading to the discovery of the cache.
"It appears the grenades were storied there to be used in terrorist attacks in future in the city, we are investigating the matter," he added.
