Pakistan`s top diplomat congratulates Indian counterpart

Pakistan`s Foreign Secretary Jalil Abbas Jilani has sent a goodwill message congratulating his Indian counterpart Sujatha Singh who assumed office early this month, foreign office said today.

Islamabad: Pakistan`s Foreign Secretary Jalil Abbas Jilani has sent a goodwill message congratulating his Indian counterpart Sujatha Singh who assumed office early this month, foreign office said today.

"Expressing his good wishes on her new assignment, Jilani appreciated Foreign Secretary Singh`s desire to `pick up the threads` of the dialogue process from where it was left off," Foreign Office spokesman Aizaz Chaudhry said.

In his message, Jilani said that he feels the exchange of goodwill messages between the leadership of the two countries needed to be carried forward and he looked forward to working closely with the Indian Foreign Secretary in addressing all issues of mutual concern, Chaudhry said.

Jilani said that Pakistan remains committed to a sustained and meaningful engagement with India that would produce mutually beneficial results.
