Plea in Pak court for commission to probe journo`s killing

Syed Saleem Shahzad`s body was found in a canal in Punjab a day after he was reported missing.

Islamabad: A lawyer on Wednesday submitted an
application to the Pakistan Supreme Court`s Lahore registry
for forming a commission to investigate the kidnapping and
murder of journalist Syed Saleem Shahzad.

The application, submitted by Zafarullah Khan, asked
the court to direct authorities to form a commission headed by
a serving or retired judge of the Supreme Court.

Shahzad`s murder in mysterious circumstances was an
incident that merits a high level investigation, it said.

Khan said journalists could also be included in the
commission.

Shahzad`s body was found in a canal in Punjab a day
after he was reported missing from Islamabad on May 29.

He was abducted two days after he alleged in an
article that al-Qaeda had infiltrated the Pakistan Navy.
