PPP leader killed by gunmen in Karachi

A senior Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader was killed by unidentified gunmen in Karachi late last night.

Islamabad: A senior Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader was killed by unidentified gunmen in Karachi late last night.

Gunmen opened fired at 42-year-old Syed Ahmer Ali Shah in the Gulistan Jauhar area of Karachi. He was critically injured and was rushed to hospital for treatment, but he died.

Police said Shah was shot eight times with a small pistol. The assailants reportedly targeted Shah, shortly after he came out of a fuel station near Kamran Chowrangi.

Witnesses told The Express Tribune that Shah, and his friend, Mairaj Khalid Jagirani, were killed when attackers on motorcycles opened fire at his white Toyota Corolla.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
