Rajapaksa greets Lankans on New Year through SMS
The message has been sent in three languages -- Sinhala, Tamil and English.
Colombo: For the second time in a row, Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa has sent his New Year greetings through SMS to all mobile phone users around the country.
The message reads "Wishing you all a prosperous new year-Mahinda Rajapaksa". It has been sent in three languages -- Sinhala, Tamil and English.
The Sinhala and Tamil messages have been typed using English letters phonetically.
This is the second time that the President used text messages to greet Sri Lankans on New Year.
Sri Lanka, one of the earliest among nations to introduce mobile communications in South Asia, currently has more than 15 million subscribers out of a total population of 20 million.
