Rajapaksa rides LTTE`s sea scooter in Jaffna

Colombo: Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa rode a sea scooter captured from the LTTE in the northern sea when he spent a night in Jaffna peninsula, which was earlier the stronghold of the defeated rebels.

Rajapaksa toured the northern Jaffna district on Sunday to open the Sangupiddy Bridge connecting mainland and the peninsula and attend the national Thai Pongal festival the following day.

The president performed his daily physical exercise along the Kankasanthurai beach followed by a ride in a sea scooter, Lankapuvath news agency reported.

The sea scooter was captured from the LTTE by the Sri Lanka Navy during the war which ended in May 2009.

The news agency also published a photograph of the president riding the sea scooter.

What is this talk about Tamil rights? What about the rights of the 70% Sinhala majority as well as the rights of Muslims?. Tamils have the same facilities if not better than the other races in SriLanka. Tamils should forget empty slogans and try to live in harmony with the other communites. This in turn will make the other communities more receptive to the needs of theirs. Mahinda is on a LTTE Scooter in Jaffna. When the LTTE were in charge Tamils could not even get out of their homes, left alone riding scooters... Stop whining and live in peace and harmony with the other communities. Do not forget that the most number of Tamils were killed by the LTTE and not by the forces.Do not let this happen again. Sudu Akka signing off from Australia

When JRJ came into power with 2/3rd majority he would have sorted out all the so call ``tamil problems`` . But he never did that and dragged his feet and lost power. NOW MR is doing the same thing. In 10 to 12 years time if there is no solution to the problem we will see a another round of voiolence. So MR please wake up , riding sea scooters will not solve the problems

King Mahinda, spending days in Jaffna unheard of before. I read an article in a newspaper called Serendib published in Melbourne? Dec 2010 Vol 11 Issue 11 page 11, a UNP Member called Mangala Samaraweera finding fault with Mahinda`s Government for settling army families in SriLanka`s North and East. This man Mangala has defamed the government calling it a rogue state of Asia. These are the traitors in our midst. If they had been in power today, the LTTE, MassVedda Prabakaran would be ruling half of SriLanka today, where as now Mahinda is riding LTTE Scooters in Jaffna.
