Kathmandu: At least 18 people were killed and
over two dozen injured on Sunday in two separate road accidents in
the mountainous western region of Nepal, police said.
In the first accident, 16 people died after a bus met
with an accident at Hansapur area in Arghakhachi district this
morning, according to police.
The accident occurred when the bus, which was heading
towards Sandhikhark from Gokhunga, plunged 150-metre down the
hilly road.
Sixteen passengers died on the spot while 25 were badly
injured, 10 of them critically, police said.
The injured were undergoing treatment at Sandhikharka
Hospital.
In the other incident, two students were killed after
they were hit by a truck in the tourist city of Pokhara.
Meanwhile, protesters blocked roads at the outskirts of
the capital for the third consecutive day demanding action and
adequate compensation for the kin of three persons who were
killed in a similar accident.
