Kathmandu: Sadichha Shrestha, 19, won the
Miss Nepal crown today, beating 17 other beauties at a
colourful pageant here.
Sahana Bajracharya, 20, bagged the first runner-up
title while Samyukta Timsina, 20, was the second runner-up.
Besides, Kathmandu girl Shrestha has won three other
titles -Miss Photogenic, Miss Smart Walk and Miss Personality.
Indian Ambassador Rakesh Sood was the guest of honour
at the grand Dabur Special Miss Nepal 2010 show, which was
attended by over 800 people.
Shrestha, a science student, will represent Nepal in
the Miss World pageant to be held later this year in China and
the first and second runner ups will participate in the Miss
Earth and Miss Asia Pacific events respectively.
The winner of the title has received a car along with
a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and the first runner up received a
scooter along with cash prize of Rs 35,000.
In 2008, the event was cancelled at the last minute
due to protests by the Maoists. Last year, the event was held
despite the protests.
Dabur Nepal, the joint venture company of Dabur India,
that produces cosmetics, herbal beauty products and Ayurvedic
medicine, was the main sponsor of the event.
