Dubai: Saudi Arabia will increase security for its diplomats in Pakistan after unidentified gunmen killed a diplomat in Karachi, a Foreign Ministry official said on Monday.
“We will start with Pakistan, but if security is needed in other countries, we won’t hesitate,” The awn quoted the official, as saying.
The official also informed that they would investigate the attack alongside Pakistani authorities.
Earlier in the day, Sindh police chief Fayaaz Leghari had said that the diplomat, a junior officer at the consulate in Karachi, was killed when gunmen fired at a car belonging to the country’s embassy.
“The consulate employee died of multiple bullet wounds on the spot. The attackers fled on the motorbike,” Leghari had said.
The incident occurred near the Darakhshan police station.
