Six injured in grenade attack in Pakistan`s NW

Peshawar: At least six persons, including a woman, were injured today in a hand grenade explosion in this northwestern city of Pakistan, police said.

Agrenade was hurled at a house near Kohati Gate in interior?city area. Six persons, including a woman, sustained minor injuries in the attack and the house also suffered minor damage due to the impact. Windowpanes of some nearby houses were smashed. Locals and rescue workers shifted the injured to Lady Reading Hospital. Police said there were vital clues that unknown extortionists were involved in the grenade attack but further details were yet to be ascertained. The area was cordoned off and further investigations were on. A search operation was also initiated in the area, police said. In a separate incident, unidentified gunmen today intercepted three container trucks carrying NATO supplies en route to Afghanistan?and torched one of them in the troubled tribal region near Afghan border in northwest Pakistan, officials said. The incident occurred near Jamrud area of Khyber agency. "At least five gunmen intercepted the trucks. They asked the drivers and helpers to get down from the trucks and then torched one of them," a?local official said. No group has claimed responsibility but the Taliban have claimed such attacks in the past.
