Suicide by a jobless man, father of eight children in Karachi took the number of suicides in Karachi to 92 in the year 2000, which is rather baffling.
Many Pakistanis say that the rising unemployment was one of the main reason of the rise in number
of suicides.
Mohammed Khalid, aged 40, was a painter, and the sole bread-winner of his large family. He had been jobless for the past many months. He was found hanging in his room. The police sent the body to a hospital for autopsy and later handed it over to the family for burial.
