Lahore: Pakistani law enforcement agencies
on Wednesday arrested Taliban commander Abdul Jalil, a close aide of
slain Tehrik-e-Taliban chief Baitullah Mehsud in this eastern
city.
A police team working in collaboration with intelligence
agencies raided a house in Shahdara area and arrested Jalil
and his accomplice Qari Shakirullah, official sources told
agency.
Jalil is believed to be the close aide of Mehsud, who
died in a US drone attack in Pakistan's tribal belt last year.
"Jalil has fought security forces in the Swat valley," a
source said.
Jalil might also have been involved in last week's twin
suicide attack within Lahore cantonment that killed 60 people,
including 10 soldiers, the source said.
