Tamil leader says will quit if link with Prahakaran proved

Rubbishing allegations that he was seen with Prabhakaran some years back, a Tamil politician has said he would quit politics if charges levelled against him were proved.

Colombo: Rubbishing allegations that he was
seen with slain LTTE chief Velupillai Prabhakaran some years
back, a Tamil politician today said he would quit politics if
charges levelled against him were proved.

The Opposition Democratic People`s Front leader Mano
Ganeshan dared a ruling coalition member to produce evidence
to prove that he and Prabhakaran had been together in Wanni
during the Norwegian brokered truce agreement between the
Tigers and the government.

"If anyone proved the allegations that I was with
Prabhakaran in his swimming pool in Wanni I will quit,"
Ganeshan told.

A ruling coalition parliamentarian had at a briefing
earlier this week claimed to have seen a film that captured
Mano Ganeshan`s pictures sharing Prabhakaran`s swimming pool.

The leader of the Tamil party challenged the ruling
United People`s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) member to make public
the VCD allegedly containing the film.

Asked if he had taken the issue with the government,
Ganeshan said a minister had told him to ignore the
allegation, The Island Newspaper reported.
