Lahore: After receiving intelligence warning that terrorists might strike school and college buses in Lahore, top educational institutions in the city have deployed security guards on their buses.

Intelligence agencies had warned of attacks on students’ buses following the suicide bombing at the International Islamic University (IIU) in Islamabad last month.

They also warned that terrorist might hijack the buses to coerce the government into fulfilling their demands, The Daily Times reports.

According to law enforcement sources, a number of public and private-sector educational institutions have immediately enhanced security of their students and deployed guards on their buses and vans.

“I used to feel insecure on my way to the college because terrorists have started targeting students. But college administration has now deployed security guards on college buses, due to which we feel protected,” Kiran, a student of Government College Gulberg, said.

The Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) Chief Proctor Dr Surriya said the university administration had stepped up security on the campus as well as on its buses and told the staff concerned to avoid allowing outsiders on board.
