Islamabad: Three persons, including two children, were killed and 31 others injured when an explosive device went off in Panjgur area of Balochistan province in southwest Pakistan on Saturday, police said.

The remote-controlled explosive device was planted in a motorcycle parked beside a road in Chitkan area of Panjgur, officials said.

The device was detonated as a convoy of a law enforcement agency carrying troops was passing by.

Five security personnel were among the injured. The wounded were taken to a nearby hospital.

Troops cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.

The explosion damaged a vehicle in the convoy and smashed the windows of nearby buildings.
