Islamabad: A security guard and two unidentified gunmen were killed in an exchange of fire outside the home of a provincial minister in Quetta city of southwest Pakistan Monday, police said.
The gunmen came to the home of provincial minister Asfandyar Kakar in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province, and began firing indiscriminately.
A personnel of the Levies militia deployed at the minister?s house returned fire, police officials said.
The Levies personnel killed both the attackers but was injured in the gun battle.
He was taken to a military hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries, the officials said.
The motive behind the attack was yet to be ascertained.
Provincial Food Minister Asfandyar Kakar, who belongs to the Pakistan People?s Party, remained unhurt.
No group claimed responsibility for the attack.
