Peshawar: Three soldiers were killed when the vehicle they were travelling in was targeted with a mine planted by pro-Taliban militants in Pakistan's volatile tribal region on Wednesday.

A convoy of security forces was on its way to Bara sub-division of Khyber tribal region from Orakzai tribal region when the vehicle hit the mine in Mamanrhay area, intelligence sources said.

Security forces' convoys are often targeted by the Taliban in the tribal belt bordering Afghanistan.

Though the convoys usually move during curfew, the militants have continued to attack them.

Scores of security personnel have been killed in such attacks.
