Three tribal elders killed in blasts in Pakistan

Three tribal elders, including the head of a pro-government peace committee, were killed and two more injured in two separate bomb blasts in the restive Khyber tribal region of northwest Pakistan on Saturday.

including the head of a pro-government peace committee, were
killed and two more injured in two separate bomb blasts in the
restive Khyber tribal region of northwest Pakistan on Saturday.

Ali Sardar Khan, the chief of peace committee or
anti-militant militia in Mamond sub-division, and two other
tribal elders were killed in the two remote-control
explosions, local residents and members of the militia said.

The first explosion occurred near Khan`s residence.
He was coming out of his house and suffered serious
injuries in the blast.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed
to his injuries.

The second blast went off in the heart of Sparay
village when members of the peace committee were on a routine
patrol.

Two tribal elders were killed instantly while two
members of the committee sustained minor injuries.

Security forces and members of the peace committee
cordoned off the area and launched a search operation after
the explosions.

Several suspects were arrested during the sweep,
officials said.
