Kathmandu: Three women, who were alleged
to be poachers, were killed by the army personnel in a firing
at Babai Valley in western Nepal.
Nepal Army in a statement said that the three poachers
were killed during an encounter with the soldiers in the
national park area.
The army said they have also arrested four people
including a girl from the site. They also recovered three home
made guns, four rounds of bullets, knifes and explosives from
them.
However, contradictory reports in the local media
alleged that the women were killed during a shootout by the
army when they entered the forest area to collect fodder.
Meanwhile, according to the army statement, an Indian
national has been arrested for carrying 10.7 kg of hashish
from Surkhet district.
Badri Singh, a resident of Himanchal Pradesh, was
accused of transporting the contraband item from Harre
Security base of the Nepal Army during a security checking,
the army said.
