Islamabad: The top leadership of the Pakistani Taliban has been eliminated, says Rehman Malik, the Prime Minister`s advisor on Interior Affairs.
Speaking to the media outside the Supreme Court here Tuesday, Malik said that the top leadership of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) had been killed but some low-level leaders of the banned outfit still exist, Dawn News reported.
He was responding to a query on a Taliban attack on a private TV station in the southern port city of Karachi Monday night.
According to the BBC, two people were injured when motorcycle-borne gunmen fired at Aaj headquarters.
Malik was the interior minister but had to resign after the Supreme Court annulled his membership of the Senate on account of the fact that he held dual citizenship. He was thereafter appointed the prime minister`s advisor on interior affairs.
