Dhaka: A speeding train plowed into two buses at a busy crossing in Bangladesh`s capital on Wednesday, killing at least seven people and injuring dozens, a police official said.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police official Mohammad Moniruzzaman said the accident occurred as the train was travelling to Dhaka`s main Kamlapur Station from the nearby town of Narayanganj.

He said dozens of people were being treated for injuries, but did not specify an exact number. Private ATN News television station reported at least 35 people were injured.
It said the crossing bar had not been lowered at the intersection.

Train accidents are common in Bangladesh because of rundown tracks and poor signalling systems.
