Two killed in train accident in Pakistan
Two persons were killed and 10 others injured when two trains collided near the port city of Karachi in southern Pakistan.
Islamabad: Two persons were killed and 10 others injured when two trains collided near the port city of Karachi in southern Pakistan Monday, police said.
The accident occurred at Gajjar Pathak, 50 km from Karachi, early this morning, Superintendent of Police Arshad Kamal Kiyani told reporters.
The Shalimar Express, heading to Karachi, hit the stationary Millat Express in the rear and damaged three of its coaches.
The guard of the Millat Express was killed instantly while an unidentified person died later at Jinnah Hospital in Karachi, Kiyani said.
The passengers of the Shalimar Express remained safe.
Ten injured people were taken to Jinnah Hospital and the condition of one of them was described as serious, Kiyani said.
Railway traffic was suspended for a few hours after the accident.
