Two US nationals held with weapon at Lanka airport: Police

Colombo: Two US nationals were arrested
after a weapon was found in their carry-on luggage at the
Bandaranaike international airport here, police said on Thursday.

They were arrested last night when a firearm, similar
to a pistol, showed up in the x-ray machine before the pair
boarded a flight, police said.

The unnamed US nationals have been handed over to the
police`s crime investigations department for further
questioning and investigations.

There was no immediate reaction from the US embassy
here.
