UN gives $8 mn for Nepal`s peace process

The UN Peacebuilding Fund released $8 million for Nepal to help it tackle challenges surrounding its peace process.

Kathmandu: The UN Peacebuilding Fund on Friday released $8 million for Nepal to help it tackle challenges surrounding its peace process.
According to the Office of the Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Nepal, the funds will be used to help consolidate the peace, including improving policing, promoting dialogue and leadership, and reinforcing national efforts to address the needs of women and conflict affected children, Xinhua reported citing a statement.
Nepal was declared eligible for funding from the UN Peacebuilding Fund in December 2007.

Friday`s release brings the total resources allocated to Nepal by the UN Peacebuilding Fund to almost to $19 million.
