Unidentified gunmen shot dead senior Baloch leader

No group claimed responsibility for the killing.

Islamabad: Unidentified gunmen on Wednesday shot
and killed a senior leader of the Balochistan National
Party-Mengal in the restive Balochistan province of Pakistan,
security officials said.

Abdul Salam Baloch was on his way home from office with
his daughter when the gunmen ambushed his vehicle in Khazdar
this evening, officials of the Levies militia said.

Baloch was hit by several bullets and died instantly. His
daughter was injured. She was taken to a nearby hospital.
No group claimed responsibility for the killing.
President Asif Ali Zardari strongly condemned the killing
of Baloch.

In a message, he expressed grief and shock at the killing
and conveyed his condolences to Baloch’s family.

Zardari directed provincial authorities to nab and bring
to justice the killers.
